The goal of the Choral Music by Trans+ Composers Database is very practical:
to make our music easier to discover, easier to program, and in doing so, to lift up trans+ contributions to the choral art.

All composers featured here are transgender, nonbinary, Two Spirit, or gender-expansive and have consented to be included. Their pronouns, gender identity(ies), and descriptive information about their works have been provided and/or approved by the composers themselves.
This is not an exhaustive list, and it is continually evolving. Please check back regularly for further listings, and please visit composers' websites to learn more about them as individual artists. Information on how to submit or suggest works can be found at the bottom of this page.

Programming music by historically excluded composers must be an ongoing commitment that extends beyond special-focus concerts.

Notes on the Database
Soloists are listed after the choral voicing, abbreviated as Sop, Alto, Ten, Bass.
The columns included here are not meant to represent comprehensive information about each work, but are intended to provide conductors with basic information useful for the programming process. Many columns in the submission form are write-in and/or optional to provide composers with the greatest agency in how they represent themselves and their work. In this context, agency and self-determination are more important than categorization.
To maintain focus on their musical works, composers' specific gender identities (where provided) are currently listed in the last column.

Not all Two Spirit individuals identify as part of the trans+ community. Those included here have opted to be featured in this list. Please visit their websites to learn more about their backgrounds and identities.
